Charter School Board Job Description

An effective charter school board relies on several foundational documents that together comprise the board job description:

1.    Full-board job description—details what the full board is responsible
2.    Individual performance expectations—what are individual board members supposed to do?
3.    Board member agreement—document that board members sign pledging to uphold their responsibilities

Board Committee Job Descriptions

A question I get asked all the time is, “Which committees do I need?”

Your bylaws should spell out as few standing committees as possible. Then I recommend that the rest of the groups remain as task forces so they can come and go as needed.
